The ACS Careers Industry Forum is a monthly teleconference featuring luminaries in the chemical sciences. Teleconferences take place the 2nd Thursday of each month at 2:00 pm Eastern Time. A member of the UK Department of Health’s provider reform group, he combines sector knowledge with practical hands-on experience. Before Apposite, David founded Nomura International’s healthcare investment and corporate finance group in 1997, where he was instrumental in many diverse investments across North America and Europe. Prior to this, he gained experience in buyouts with Nomura’s Principal Finance Group. He has been CEO of a number of companies, including an authorized bank. LaMattina is the former Senior Vice President, Pfizer Inc and President, Pfizer Global Research and Development. In this role, Dr. LaMattina oversaw the drug discovery and development efforts of over 12,000 colleagues in the United States, Europe and Asia. He retired from this position in December, 2007. At Pfizer Dr. LaMattina’s research involved seeking new therapeutic agents for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders and also asthma. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and U.S. patents. In addition, he is the author of “Drug Truths: Dispelling the Myths about Pharma R&D”.
