The ACS Careers Industry Forum is a monthly teleconference featuring luminaries in the chemical sciences. Teleconferences take place the 2nd Thursday of each month at 2:00 pm Eastern Time. - June 11th: David Porter is a leading figure in the healthcare sector, with a depth of experience investing in, and advising, a wide range of companies. A member of the UK Department of Health’s provider reform group, he combines sector knowledge with practical hands-on experience. Before Apposite, David founded Nomura International’s healthcare investment and corporate finance group in 1997, where he was instrumental in many diverse investments across North America and Europe. Prior to this, he gained experience in buyouts with Nomura’s Principal Finance Group. He has been CEO of a number of companies, including an authorized bank. - May 14: Dr. John L. LaMattina is the former Senior Vice President, Pfizer Inc and President, Pfizer Global Research and Development. In this role, Dr. LaMattina oversaw the drug discovery and development efforts of over 12,000 colleagues in the United States, Europe and Asia. He retired from this position in December, 2007. At Pfizer Dr. LaMattina’s research involved seeking new therapeutic agents for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders and also asthma. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and U.S. patents. In addition, he is the author of “Drug Truths: Dispelling the Myths about Pharma R&D”. Dr. LaMattina’s passion about chemistry is reflected in his career success. |

- April 16th: Robert Peoples, Ph.D., is Director of the ACS Green Chemistry Institute®, previously he served as Sustainability Director for the Carpet & Rug Institute, Executive Director of The Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE), and President of the Environmental Impact Group. In 2003, Bob was the first recipient of the Carpet America Recovery Effort “Person of the Year” award. He is an internationally recognized speaker in the areas of sustainability, standards, innovation, and carpet reclamation. |

Dr. Hunt is Past President (2007) of ACS and is currently serving on various government and academic advisory boards advocating science and sustainability. She is a recipient of numerous awards including Outstanding Alumna award from the University of California, Davis (2009); the Smith College Medal (2008); “Best 50 Women in Business” in Pennsylvania (2007); and was elected Fellow by the AAAS (2007). |
